Amotekun Nabs Fake Scavenger Who Kidnapped Girl In A Sack
A shocking incident of kidnapping was foiled by the brave intervention of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, on Friday. A man, who posed as a scavenger, attempted to abduct an eight-year-old girl in Akure, the state capital, by hitting her with a charm and stuffing her in a sack.
The girl’s grandmother, who heard her cries, raised the alarm and confronted the kidnapper. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, attacked the grandmother and other residents with various objects, including a burning firewood. However, he was unable to escape as a bike rider alerted the Amotekun operatives, who arrived at the scene and arrested him.
The state Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspect confessed to being a professional kidnapper and had been involved in several cases of abduction in the past. He said the suspect would be charged to court after a thorough investigation.
“We want to know who his sponsors are, who his bosses are, and what he does with the previous victims he had successfully taken away before his arrest today,” Adeleye said.
The father of the girl, James, thanked the Amotekun and the residents for saving his daughter from the kidnapper. He said his daughter had gone to the backyard to use the toilet when the suspect grabbed her and put her in a sack.
“I am grateful to God and the Amotekun for rescuing my daughter. She could have been killed or sold by the kidnapper. He is a wicked man and he should face the full wrath of the law,” James said.
