The Kwara State Government has imposed a security lockdown in Babanla, Ifelodun Local Government Area, after armed criminals attacked the community on Friday 8 August 2025.
According to official reports, the attackers targeted a police station, attempted to loot several grocery shops, and made moves on a local hotel before being repelled by combined efforts of security forces and courageous residents.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, the government commended the Nigerian Army, the police, and community members for their swift and coordinated response.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has maintained constant contact with security commanders and local vigilante groups, has ordered a sustained security operation in the area aimed at neutralising the threat and ensuring the safety of residents.
“While further briefings are awaited, the Governor reassures the public that concerted efforts are being made in coordination with the Office of the National Security Adviser to cleanse the area of the criminals,” the statement read.
The Governor also urged residents to cooperate fully with security forces and remain calm while operations are ongoing.
