Governor’s Age Group Swimming Championship Kicks Off Today in Ilorin
The atmosphere is set for excitement, talent discovery, and healthy competition as the Governor’s Age Group Swimming Championship officially begins today, 29th November 2025, at the Kwara State Swimming Pool Complex, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.
Declaring the championship open on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, the Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Haruna Tsado, expressed delight at the gathering of young swimmers and the opportunity the event provides for talent identification and development.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Tsado noted that the competition is designed to “showcase skills, encourage teamwork, and promote a healthy spirit of competition among young athletes.”
He however, encouraged participants to give their best, be creative, and enjoy the experience, adding that events like this are instrumental in discovering future champions for the state and the nation.
“May the best team or individual win, and may we all learn from this experience,” he said.
The Governor’s Age Group Swimming Championship features young athletes from across the state who will compete in various categories aimed at nurturing grassroots talent and strengthening Kwara’s position in aquatic sports.
With the official declaration complete, the pool is now open and the championship fully underway.
