Bola Mogaji Reaffirms Kwara Govt’s Commitment as History Comes Alive at Kwara Horse Show

The Kwara State Government has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the advancement of sports and preservation of cultural heritage in the state, using the serene city of Ilorin as a unifying hub for both.
Declaring open the maiden edition of the Kwara Horse Show today, 16th of November 2025 at QueIn Elizabeth School, Ilorin, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, who represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to strengthening sports development and reviving heritage-based recreational activities.
Mallam Mogaji praised the organisers for championing a project that aligns perfectly with Governor AbdulRazaq’s broader vision of using sports and culture as tools for youth engagement, tourism growth and social cohesion. He described the Horse Show as a timely initiative that enriches Ilorin’s historical narrative while preserving traditions that date back to 1830, when the Ilorin Durbar first emerged as a symbol of victory, unity, and celebration.
He further assured participants and cultural stakeholders that the request for the hosting of a full polo event in Ilorin would be dutifully communicated to the governor, noting that the AbdulRazaq administration has consistently demonstrated readiness to support any initiative that promotes sports excellence and cultural renaissance.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, Dr. Jemilah Atata, expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq and the Sports Commission under Mallam Mogaji for providing an enabling environment for such a landmark event. She described the Horse Show as more than just a sporting activity, but a manifestation of collaboration, resilience, and shared purpose—a combination that the present administration continues to encourage.
She added that the event stands as a shining example of what becomes possible when visionary government leadership, community support, and collective determination work hand in hand.
The maiden edition of the Kwara Horse Show attracted an impressive gathering of dignitaries, including the Oloro of Oro Kingdom, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye; the Magaji Ngeri of Ilorin, Alhaji Adebayo Mogaji; representatives of the Kuliyan Ngeri of Ilorin; Prof. Olaolu Ali; the SSA on Communications, Mallam Abdullateef Ibrahim; SSA Tourism, Mr Mukaray; and the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Aisha Buge, among others.
Through the combined support of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the dynamic leadership of Mallam Bolakale Mogaji at the Sports Commission, Kwara State continues to emerge as a leading destination for innovative sports promotion, cultural revival, and youth empowerment.
