Ilorin, Nigeria – Tragedy was averted on Monday morning when the players and officials of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC were involved in a road accident along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway today.
According to eyewitnesses, the team’s bus was returning from their Nigeria National League (NNL) matches in Lagos when the accident occurred.
In a statement, the club’s Media Director, Tosh Michaels, confirmed the incident, saying that fortunately, no life was lost in the accident. However, a few players and officials sustained injuries.
“Thank God, no life was lost in the accident, but a few of our players and officials sustained injuries,” Michaels said.
The injured players and officials have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the rest of the team is shaken but unharmed.
The cause of the accident is still unknown, but an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The management of ABS Ilorin FC has promised to provide updates on the condition of the injured players and officials.
