BREAKING: One kidnapper caught, four on the run in Agbor
Agbor, Delta State – A kidnapper was arrested by security forces yesterday in Agbor, while his four accomplices managed to escape. The suspect, who hails from Oyo state, is a member of a notorious gang that has been terrorizing the region for the past four years.
According to sources, the gang is responsible for several kidnappings, murders, and robberies in the area, often posing as Fulani herdsmen to evade detection. The gang would demand ransom from the victims’ families, and then kill them to avoid being exposed.
The arrest came after a tip-off from a local resident, who alerted the authorities about the gang’s hideout. A joint operation was launched by the police, the army, and the vigilante group, resulting in a fierce gun battle that lasted for over an hour.
The security forces were able to overpower the kidnappers and capture one of them alive, while the others fled into the nearby forest. The captured suspect is currently undergoing interrogation, and is expected to reveal vital information about the gang’s activities and whereabouts.
The security forces have vowed to intensify their efforts to track down and arrest the remaining kidnappers, and urged the public to cooperate with them by providing any useful information.
The governor of Delta state, Sheriff Oborevwori, has commended the security forces for their bravery and professionalism, and assured the people of Agbor that his administration is committed to ensuring their safety and security. He also condoled with the families of the victims, and promised to bring the perpetrators to justice.
