Daring Rescue: 49 Hostages Freed from Mountainous Hideout

In a dramatic turn of events, the Taraba State Police, alongside local hunters and vigilantes, have successfully liberated 49 individuals who were held captive by kidnappers within the treacherous terrain of Gongomaliki Mountain, located in the Yorro Local Government Area.

The operation, which unfolded as a direct consequence of meticulous intelligence work, saw the combined forces engage in a fierce confrontation with the kidnappers. The Police Commissioner, David Iloyonomon, commended the bravery and resilience of the local hunters, whose valiant efforts led to the downfall of numerous kidnappers, with many more sustaining injuries during the intense skirmish.

The rescued victims, now undergoing medical care at the police clinic, exhibit a range of injuries, with some in critical condition necessitating specialized treatment. Among them is an individual who suffered a horrific injury, with the kidnappers having removed his right eye.

In the aftermath, the police have intensified their operations, deploying tactical teams to pursue the remaining kidnappers, resulting in the apprehension of ten suspects and the recovery of firearms.
