Many have clamoured for a proficient change in Osun state which has eventually happened with the emergence of Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke Jackson, aka Imole.
After the swearing-in of the newly elected Governor, he pronounced and stated a fact on the position of three monarchs crowned by the outgoing Governor, Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola. The affected monarchs are Aree of Iree; Oba Ademola Oluponle, Akirun of Ikirun; Oba Yunusa Akadiri and Owa of Igbajo; Oba Adegboyega Famodun, respectively.
Seeing through the enthronement of the monarchs, Governor Ademola immediately announced their dethronement. This act was enough to calm some sections of the aggrieved and accumulated tensions in the heart of the opposition. The question that surfaces in the act are, ” did the Governor take the right decision or not?”.
After several consultations with quarters of authority, one of the sources accredited to an Islamic Scholar, Mallam Ibraheem Habeeb Temitope, popularly called Alfa Jeje Agba, revealed that the situation is of two divergent solutions. He said if their enthronement were divine, nothing could dethrone them, but if otherwise, they must face the wrath. This new call for the incidence of the former Emir of Kano state, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi; when dethroned, he quoted and said, “it is Almighty Allah that enthrones and dethrones going by Qur’an 3 vs 26. Q 3 vs 26….O Allah! Lord of Power (And Rule), Thou givest power to whom Thou pleasest, and Thou strippest off power from whom Thou pleasest: Thou endues with honour whom Thou pleasest, and Thou bringest low whom Thou pleasest: In Thy hand is all good. Verily, over all things, Thou hast power.
Alfa Jeje Agba also stated that “any act of injustice is Islamically wrong, it depends on the rationale behind the act by Mr Governor, and one sure thing is that nobody can deceive God. Every action shall be judged by intention.
While stressing the dethronement, a source who claimed anonymity revealed that those monarchs were institutionalized without due process and were crowned based on affiliation with the outgoing Governor for reasons best known to the former Governor. Their kingship boomed in, setting ablaze palaces and causing community unrest.
Meanwhile, several allegations were raised that with his verdict on many legacy efforts fully established by his predecessors, will he be able to maintain his promises during his campaign tour and electioneering period? This, to many, with his action claimed that he was riding towards the path of Osun state indigene agitations, while few protested that he was only digging his own grave by embarking on such a mission. The indigent of Osun state embraced the development while all his political opponents opposed the act with reasons known to them, Alfa Jeje Agba claimed.
While rounding up the conversation with the popularly known Scholar, he reiterated that the new Osun state is assured of unity. At the same time, the disunity only deters the state from competing with neighbouring states amidst the country with its vast range of potential and natural resources gifted.
