Ebonyi Gov. Umahi Sacks 17 Permanent Secretaries, Re-appoints Others

 

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, on Saturday, sacked 17 Permanent Secretaries, who superintended various ministries in the state.

Two days prior to the transfer of power to the next administration, which would be headed by Hon. Francis Nwifuru of the All Progressives Congress, the Permanent Secretaries were fired.

Umahi made the firing announcement during the Executive Council’s Valedictory Session at the New Government House in Centenary City, Abakaliki, the state capital.

Nwifuru was in charge of the 15 Permanent Secretaries that Governor Umahi kept on to work with the incoming administration.

Along with keeping the Head of Service, Mrs. Rita-Mary Okoro, his Senior Special Assistant on Religious and Welfare Matters, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali, Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr. Ogbonnaya Abara, and Commissioner for Aviation Technology, Mrs. Obianuju Alo, the outgoing governor also kept the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Mr. Ogbonnaya Abara.

Additionally, Umahi reappointed Mrs. Chioma Nweze as a consultant for the State Government for three months, Frank Ngwu as Commissioner for Trade and Investment, and his Special Assistant on the Airport Project.
