EFCC Arraigns Winner Chapel Pastor For ‘Defrauding’ Landmark University N19.3 million

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Temidayo Eseyin, an associate pastor with the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) in Ilorin, with defrauding Landmark University in Kwara State of N19.3 million.
Eseyin previously served on the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Ilorin Branch.
He was charged with four counts of dishonesty and misappropriation of university funds by the EFCC’s Ilorin zonal office.
The offense is said to violate Section 308 and is penalized under Section 309 of the Penal Code Law.
The matter is being heard by Justice Funsho Lawal of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin.
According to one of the charges, “Eseyin, sometime in 2021, dishonestly misappropriated N6,064,000, representing payment of rent on property known as Old Midland Building belonging to Landmark University.”
The defendant submitted a not guilty plea.
Rashidat Alao, EFCC counsel, asked the court to hold the defendant awaiting the outcome of the trial.
However, Eseyin’s lawyer, Femi Makinde, protested to the move and asked the court to release his client on bail until the case was resolved.
While hearing the motion, Justice Lawal granted the defendant bail in the amount of ten million.
He later deferred the case, telling the parties that the new date would be conveyed to them.
