The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji(Dr.) Ibrahim Zulu Gambari CFR, has endorsed the initiative of the Seyi Tinubu Cityzens Cup today, 17th of April 2025.
The Emir endorsed the tournament earlier on Thurday during a courtesy call on his palace by the organising committee.
The convener of the tournament, Aliu Olamilekan Bello, noted that the initiative is more than just football that it is about building bridges, fostering unity, and empowering young talents across our communities.
“We had meaningful discussions on the future of football in Kwara State, and we are deeply grateful for the Emir’s wisdom, guidance, and heartfelt support. His leadership continues to inspire us” Aliu added.
The Seyi Tinubu Cityzen Cup stands as a powerful platform for young athletes to shine, grow, and make a difference.
Aliu stated that Kwara’s rich sporting heritage is one of the major driving force behind the project as it further drives forward sports development in the state, unite communities and nurture future champions.
The semifinals of the tournament take place at Kwara Football Academy in Ilorin on Thursday while the much anticipated final is scheduled for Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of George Innih , Stadium on Saturday, April 19,2025
Members of the organising committee who visited the Emir include CEO of Steady Global Investment, Lawal Moyosore Tijani, Ambassador Bolaji Mogaji-Nda and a host of others.
