England’s Harry Kane lost an 82nd-second penalty kick that would have been an equaliser after Giroud headed in the second goal for the defending champions.
As it stands, France will face off against in-form giant killers Morocco, who became the first African team to qualify for the semi-final after a dramatic victory against Portugal.
