Kwara United knocked Gateway Fc out of 2023 Federation Cup through Penalty Shootout after 1-1 draw in 90minutes at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.

 

Olajide Mustapha gave Gateway United the lead with a stunning strike two minutes after the break. But experienced Samad Kadiri equalised for Kwara Unite

Kwara United gained the upper hand in the shootout scoring four of their spot kicks, while Gateway United netted twice.

 

No major upset was recorded as more Round of 64 matches were played in the 2023 Nigeria Federation Cup on Thursday.

 

In the biggest fixture of the day, Akwa United defeated Wikki Tourists 1-0 at the UNEC Stadium, Enugu.

 

Liman Ahmadu stabbed home the decisive goal three minutes before the half-hour mark after Abbey Benson’s initial effort was cleared off the line.

 

Plateau United also sealed their passage into the next round following a comprehensive 3-0 win against non-league club, Jama United.
