Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called for urgent reinforcement of security personnel in Ekiti Local Government Area, particularly the Eruku axis, following a renewed wave of attacks in the community.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor described the latest incident as “unconscionable” and demanded immediate action to halt further breaches.
“The Governor has sought immediate deployment of more security operatives to support the existing security architecture in the area,” the statement read. “He requested that this new measure be activated without delay. The Governor wholly condemns the attack, sympathises and identifies with the people of Eruku and environs, especially the families and the CAC directly affected by Tuesday’s incident.”
Ajakaye added that the state government remains committed to supporting security agencies in restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for deploying 900 additional troops to Kwara State, describing the move as a significant boost to the ongoing security efforts.
“We have indeed seen appreciable calm in many previously affected areas. We sincerely thank the President for this. We are confident that the additional troops will provide further deterrence, enhance safety for our people, and ensure lasting calm,” the statement added.
