Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has extended warm greetings to the Muslim and Christian communities in the state as the holy fasting seasons of Ramadan and Lent commence.
In a statement released on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor described the simultaneous commencement of Ramadan and Lent as a powerful reminder of the shared values of faith, sacrifice, and selflessness that unite humanity across religious lines.
Governor AbdulRazaq noted that the coincidence of the two sacred seasons once again underscores the need for people of different faiths to work together for harmony, peace, and unity, while standing as a collective force against all forms of evil and actions capable of slowing development in Kwara State and Nigeria at large.
According to the Governor, fasting provides a unique opportunity for spiritual renewal and moral rebirth, as it draws individuals closer to the Creator through abstention from sins, increased charity, and commitment to good deeds.
“Fasting opens a unique window for man to get closer to the Creator through abstention from sins, intentional giving of alms, and all forms of good deeds. It helps man to redefine his essence before the Creator,” the statement quoted the Governor as saying.
Governor AbdulRazaq also prayed that Almighty God accepts the devotion and sacrifices of the faithful during the holy periods. He urged Muslims and Christians alike to use the seasons of fasting and prayer to continue supporting government efforts aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people and advancing the overall development of the state.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and inclusive governance, stressing that unity remains a critical pillar for sustainable progress in Kwara State.
