Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, has sponsored Team Kwara’s participation in the 2025 edition of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) Unity Football Tournament, North Central Zone, holding in Nassarawa State today.
The gesture underscores the Governor’s unwavering commitment to youth and sports development as vital instruments for unity, empowerment, and regional cooperation.
The tournament, organized to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum, features teams from the 19 Northern states competing across three zones, with zonal champions advancing to the grand finale in Kaduna.
Representing Kwara in the competition is the youth team of the Kwara Football Academy (KFA), led by the Director of Sports, Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Ibrahim Bako, who heads the state delegation.
Kwara will contest for the North Central ticket against host Nassarawa, Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Niger, and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) as the tournament kicks off on Friday in Nassarawa.
Meanwhile, in other zones, Kebbi State has already secured the North West ticket, while Bauchi edged past Gombe on Wednesday to clinch the North East title, setting the stage for an exciting grand finale in Kaduna.
The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, commended the Governor for his continued support for sports and for providing the necessary logistics for the team’s participation. He urged the players to justify the government’s investment by competing with discipline, teamwork, and a winning spirit.
“We sincerely appreciate His Excellency for his continuous support and confidence in our young athletes. This opportunity reflects his administration’s vision of using sports to promote unity and youth development,” Mogaji said before the team’s departure.
