The Senior Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor on Communication, Ibraheem Abdullateef, has invited former Senate President Bukola Saraki and his followers to embark on a tour of the current administration’s projects across the state.
In a statement titled “A New Week, Same Old Kwara PDP”, released on Monday 28th of April 2025, Abdullateef said it would be refreshing to show Saraki the remarkable progress Kwara has recorded since 2019 under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
“If Sarakites truly have no eyes or ears to understand the import of the progress Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has made in Kwara, I offer a tour guide with my team, first in their own very local government, before coming to the capital. It is part of my job to provide education for those willing to learn,” he said.
“This offer is also valid for Mr. Bukola Saraki on his next visit to the state. It would be lovely to show the elder statesman the depth of change Kwara has witnessed across sectors since changing leadership in 2019,” Abdullateef added.
Among notable projects cited by the Governor’s aide are the construction of two flyovers, the Sugar Film Factory, the Innovation Hub, the largest Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in North Central Nigeria, and a state-of-the-art Garment Factory. He also highlighted the massive renovation of over 600 basic school structures and the ongoing upgrade of the iconic Kwara Hotel and the former Civil Service Clinic.
Abdullateef insisted that AbdulRazaq’s performance has resonated positively among the populace. “I hear it on the street every time, we get mails and messages on social media. The most of all is the raw feedback on radio every time myself and other government officials are on air to give updates,” he stated.
He maintained that Governor AbdulRazaq has positioned Kwara on a sustainable path of growth, particularly in critical sectors like health and education.
The invitation comes amid a flurry of criticism from Saraki’s camp after Abdullateef described the former Senate President as an “opposition general without troops.” He stood by his comments, arguing that Saraki’s supporters have failed to counter his claims with facts, resorting instead to personal attacks.
According to him, the decline of the PDP in Kwara is evident through repeated electoral losses and the visible absence of the party’s influence across the state.
“The truth about the apparent death of the party hurts deeply. It hurts deeply that Kwara people have continued to reject their reign of terror and recidivism for peace and progress under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” he said.
He further dismissed claims that the PDP won the last local government elections, urging critics to visit council headquarters to see the ruling party’s strong presence.
Abdullateef concluded that the PDP’s tainted legacy of corruption and poor governance continues to alienate it from serious political relevance in the state.
