In a decisive crackdown, the Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two alleged armed robbers and serial rapists, bringing an end to a reign of terror in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Chukwuma Diji and Micheal Edochie, stand accused of a heinous crime spree that includes the gang rape of three women.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that the duo’s capture was a significant breakthrough in restoring peace to the community. The police recovered an arsenal of homemade firearms and ammunition, along with a motorcycle believed to be used in their criminal escapades.
The suspects’ confessions have shed light on their brutal operations, including an incident where they coerced a victim into transferring money after subjecting her and her friend to sexual assault at gunpoint.
CP Nnaghe Itam has directed that the case be escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department for an exhaustive probe, ensuring that justice is served for the victims of these atrocious acts. The community breathes a sigh of relief as the law closes in on those who sought to evade it.
