Kwara Coding & Digital Literacy Programme Records Outstanding Progress as Ministry Confirms Strong Student Mastery

The Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Summer Holiday Edition has entered its second week with remarkable success, as students continue to demonstrate accelerated mastery of essential digital skills.

The programme, a flagship initiative of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, is being implemented through the Office of the Special Assistant on Digital Innovation to equip young people with cutting-edge technological knowledge and prepare them for future opportunities in the global digital economy.

A monitoring team from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development’s ICT Unit, led by Mrs. Jimoh Hafsat Onaolapo, carried out extensive assessments across several training centers in Ilorin. Their findings revealed exceptional teaching quality and significant improvements in student performance.

“The accelerated learning we witnessed surpassed our expectations,” Mrs. Jimoh remarked. “Over 85% of students across the centers showed deep comprehension of coding and digital concepts. Even more impressive is their ability to apply this knowledge to real-world problem-solving, which reflects the strength of the programme and our long-term vision for digital education in Kwara State.”

According to the evaluation, participating students have so far acquired:
Strong proficiency in Python programming fundamentals.
Practical knowledge of web development.

Advanced problem-solving abilities through debugging exercises.

An average comprehension score of above 85% across all centers.
Building on this momentum, the programme will enter its third week with an upgraded curriculum that introduces Advanced Python Programming, Mobile Application Development, and Interactive Innovation Projects designed to deepen students’ creativity and problem-solving capabilities.

Currently, thousands of students across multiple centers are engaged in specialized training tracks such as Python Programming and Web Development. In addition, Innovation Thinking remains a compulsory core module for all participants, ensuring every student develops critical digital creativity and entrepreneurial problem-solving skills, regardless of their technical specialization.

With this initiative, Kwara State is setting new standards for digital inclusion and youth empowerment in Nigeria, while positioning its young population as active creators and leaders in the technology-driven future.
