Kwara Govt Advises Residents to Limit Movement as Security Forces Raid Kidnappers’ Hideouts

The Kwara State Government has advised residents, particularly those in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun Local Government Areas, to exercise heightened vigilance and minimize outdoor activities as security forces intensify operations against kidnappers in border communities.

The advisory comes on the heels of escalated joint security operations in forests and border towns between Kwara and Kogi States, where criminal hideouts are being targeted.

“We urge people to be very vigilant and limit their movements to only very necessary routines. That is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts. We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” said the Commissioner for Communications, Mrs. Bolanle Olukoju, in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Olukoju acknowledged that the temporary restrictions may cause inconvenience to residents but stressed that the safety of citizens remains the government’s top priority.

“The government regrets the temporary inconveniences the limited movement may cause in the nearby areas. We commend the security forces for the renewed efforts to rout out the criminals, and charge them to continue until they are totally neutralised and flushed out of our forests,” she added.

The government urged the public to cooperate with security operatives and report any suspicious movements in their communities.
