Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Tuesday, Ilorin, April 29, 2025, met with first-class traditional rulers across the state to discuss pressing issues of security and socioeconomic development, as the government intensifies efforts to safeguard lives and properties across local communities.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, who released the statement, said the meeting reflected the administration’s consultative approach and commitment to inclusive governance.
The high-level meeting, which brought together top royal fathers under the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, centered on strengthening the state’s grassroots security framework, especially in light of recent threats posed by cross-border non-state actors fleeing military campaigns near the Kainji Park and surrounding regions.
Governor AbdulRazaq said the administration is adopting a multiagency strategy to boost security and deepen development, with special emphasis on community-level participation. He noted that local involvement in security is now being expanded with government backing.
“We thank you for what you have been doing. And we need Your Royal Highnesses to talk to our people on the efforts all of us must make to protect our communities from being infiltrated,” the Governor told the monarchs.
He urged traditional rulers to encourage citizens to offer actionable intelligence and continue supporting security operatives in their collective effort to keep Kwara safe.
The Vice Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs and Etsu Patigi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, praised the Governor for his open and proactive approach to governance.
“We will always support your administration as you are doing a good job,” Etsu Patigi said during the meeting.
The engagement is part of ongoing efforts by the AbdulRazaq-led government to build a secure and prosperous Kwara through collaboration with traditional institutions and local stakeholders.
