The Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq has taken a significant step towards establishing an Aerospace University in the state, with the reception of a visiting panel to assess the proposed conversion of the Aviation College, Ilorin.
According to a statement released by Falade Gbenga Tayo, Press Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs) Mary Arinde, emphasized the state government’s commitment to developing the education sector, particularly in specialized fields.
“This proposed conversion of the International Aviation College, Ilorin to a full-fledged Aerospace University is a bold step towards positioning Nigeria as a key player in the global Aviation and Aerospace industry,” Dr. Arinde explained.
The team lead from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, Mallam Lawal Ibrahim, commended the state government for its vision and investment in the education sector. “The Aerospace University is a product of the visionary synergy between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” he said.
Captain Okatahi Yakubu, Rector of Aviation College, Ilorin, appreciated the team and thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his foresight in upgrading the Aviation College to an Aerospace University.
The assessment panel’s visit marks a significant milestone in the establishment of the Aerospace University, which is expected to position Kwara State as a hub for aviation and aerospace education in Nigeria.
