Kwara State has once again proven its dominance in the game of squash as the state’s junior team emerged overall champions at the just-concluded 6th Expro in Diaspora National Junior Squash Championship held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The Harmony State contingent showcased exceptional talent and determination across various categories, amassing an impressive haul of 14 medals — five (5) gold, two (2) silver, and seven (7) bronze — to claim the top position at the national event.
Medal Breakdown:
Under-11 Girls: Susan Balogun (Gold), Roqeebat Abdulrosheed (Bronze)
Under-11 Boys: Abdulfatai Abdulrasaq (Gold), Samad Animonshau (Silver)
Under-13 Girls: Ganna Grace (Gold), Susan Balogun (Silver), Atolagbe Success (Bronze), Mariam Mogaji (Bronze)
Under-13 Boys: Azim Muhammad (Gold), Zubair Magaji (Bronze)
Under-16 Girls: Aishat

Speaking after the victory, the Squash Secretary, Sheu Aliyu, expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Government for its unwavering support, noting that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s consistent backing has been pivotal in sustaining the state’s dominance in the sport.
He also extended appreciation to the Life Patron of Squash in Kwara and Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, for his fatherly guidance and support.
“This victory is another testament to the fact that squash has always belonged to Kwara State, from the 1980s to this generation,” he said. With this remarkable achievement, Kwara continues to strengthen its position as Nigeria’s powerhouse in squash, inspiring a new generation of champions.
