The Kwara State Government has taken a significant step towards driving economic growth and creating job opportunities by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Board for Technology Incubation (NIBT) today.
According to the statement released by Taibat Baba Adams, Press Secretary MBIT, the MoU was signed by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, at the Ministry’s conference room. Hon. Damilola described the signing as a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to promote innovation and technology.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration has been investing in developmental projects, including the Kwara State Information Technology Hub, which is set for commissioning. This hub is expected to create job opportunities and enhance skills acquisition for the state’s youths.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Mary Kemi Adeoshun, emphasized the state government’s dedication to capital projects that benefit youths, women, and vulnerable groups. She expressed hope for a smooth and productive collaboration with NIBT.
The Director General/Chief Executive of NIBT, Engr. Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for fostering an enabling business environment in Kwara. He praised the Ministry’s efforts in facilitating the MoU, stating that the partnership marks the beginning of a shared commitment to achieving common goals.
The NIBT Centre, established in 2009, plays a crucial role in wealth creation, self-sustainability, poverty reduction, and the commercialization of research and development outcomes. The state government has supported the centre through various interventions, including accommodation facilities, MD meters, grants, loan disbursements, and infrastructure projects.
This partnership is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy and create opportunities for entrepreneurs, innovators, and youths. Also, the partnership aims to foster entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology in the state.
