Kwara United’s Frustration Boils Over: Fans Demand Change!

In week 14 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on December 17, 2023, Kwara United found themselves under intense scrutiny after a goalless draw at home against Niger Tornadoes.

The disheartening result triggered a wave of discontent among supporters and fans, who expressed their frustration by chanting “Kunbi Must Go.”

However, the fans’ ire was directed not only at the players but also at the management and coaching staff of Kwara United, signaling a crisis that the team will need to navigate as they seek to bounce back in the NPFL.

On the field, Lobi Stars delivered an impressive performance, securing a 2-1 victory over Doma United. S. Oganbor and S. Mojereola found the net for Lobi Stars in the 3rd and 79th minutes, respectively, while S. A. Enefiok’s goal in the 90th minute served as a mere consolation for Doma United.

Meanwhile, this win propelled Lobi Stars to the second position in the league standings, simultaneously putting an end to Doma United’s quest for a record 10-match unbeaten streak.

Elsewhere in the NPFL, Coach Bala celebrated his inaugural victory as Kastina United’s coach with a 1-0 win against Bendel Insurance, courtesy of C. Ezeh’s penalty goal in the 74th minute.

Gombe United made history by securing their first away draw against Sunshine Stars, ending the match in a 1-1 stalemate with goals from U. Anietie and A. Jimoh.

In other NPFL clashes, Pillars edged out Remo Stars 2-1, Heartland secured a 1-0 victory over Akwa United, and Plateau United dominated Bayelsa United with a convincing 5-1 win. Enugu Rangers continued their resurgence with a 2-0 triumph over Sport Lagos, while Abia Warriors narrowly defeated Shooting Stars 3-2 in a thrilling encounter.

The much-anticipated match between Rivers United and Enyimba was postponed, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding NPFL season.

As the league progresses, the spotlight remains on Kwara United as they navigate the storm of discontent and strive to turn the tide in their favor.
