The Lagos State government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has received its first set of electric buses for public transportation in the state.
In a statement released today, Sunday, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the benefits of the electric buses, including reduced carbon emissions and increased efficiency.
The initiative was made possible through a partnership with Oando Clean Energy Limited.
The electric buses are capable of traveling up to 280km on a full charge, making them a game-changer for public transportation in Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured residents that the buses will not experience issues during transit, as they are designed to meet the unique travel demands of Lagos.
The introduction of these electric buses in Lagos marks a significant milestone, as the state becomes the first in Nigeria to adopt such technology for public transportation.
In the coming months, the state government plans to run a pilot scheme to gather data and further improve the efficiency of its public transport service.
However, this collaboration demonstrates the government’s commitment to creating a sustainable future for Lagos.
