Man Escapes Death After Falling Into Kidnappers’ Trap In Anambra
A man’s ordinary day turned into a nightmare when he was kidnapped by a commercial motorcyclist in Obosi, Anambra State. The victim, whose name is yet to be known, had just finished a menial job and was on his way home to Nnewi when he boarded the wrong bike.
The motorcyclist, who was part of a kidnapping syndicate, took him to their hideout in a thick forest, where he was brutally beaten and tortured. The kidnappers also robbed him of his phone, money and other belongings, and transferred N200,000 from his account.
A viral video on social media showed the victim with swollen eyes, battered cheeks and a disfigured face. He said he was lucky to be alive after the kidnappers released him and showed him how to find the main road. He trekked for a long time in the forest before he saw any sign of civilization.
However, his ordeal did not end there. He said he tried to seek help from some security agents he met on the road, but they told him they were aware of the kidnappers’ activities and that he should be grateful he was not killed or held for ransom. They also refused to go after the suspects.
The victim said he was shocked and disappointed by the security personnel’s response. He said the kidnappers gave him some money for his transportation after taking everything from him. He managed to get back home and sought medical attention.
When contacted by this reporter, Izunna Okafor; the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, expressed sympathy for the victim and urged him to report the incident to the nearest police station. He also said the command was committed to providing safety and asked him to call 07039194332 for further assistance.
