Management Sues Mohbad’s Father N200 Million Over Fake Will Claim
The father of the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, has been sued by his son’s management for N200 million over his claim that the singer left behind a thumbprint-only will that was not signed.
Mr Joseph Aloba, who made the claim in a recent interview, has been accused of defaming his son’s legacy and reputation by the management of Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba.
The management, in a statement, dismissed the alleged will as “unprecedented and unreal”, saying that Mohbad did not leave behind any will at all.
They also said that they have been managing Mohbad’s estate and assets in accordance with the law and his wishes.
The management has filed a defamation suit against Mr Aloba, demanding that he retract his “slanderous” remarks and issue a public apology within 14 days.
They also want him to pay N200 million in damages through their lawyers, Bankole Falade & Co.
Mohbad, who was 26 years old, who died of an unconfirmed incident in December 2023. He was one of the most popular and influential musicians in Nigeria, known for his hit songs such as “Koma Jensun”, “Ponmo Sweet” and “Sorry”.
