Mother And Daughter Arrested For Selling Baby For N450k In Imo State

 

A mother and her daughter have been arrested by a vigilante outfit for allegedly selling a baby for N450,000 in Nkwere, Imo state. The suspects were paraded along with three other accomplices, including a nurse, a facilitator and a buyer.

 

According to reports, the mother, identified as Chiamaka, gave birth to the baby at a private hospital in Nkwere, where she was assisted by a nurse, named Blessing. The nurse then contacted a woman, named Chinonso, who arranged the sale of the baby to another woman, named Ngozi, for N450,000.

 

The vigilante outfit, which got wind of the transaction, traced the suspects and apprehended them. They also recovered the baby, who was found in the custody of Ngozi. The suspects confessed to their roles in the crime and revealed that Chiamaka’s mother, named Uchechi, was aware of the plan and consented to it.

 

The vigilante outfit handed over the suspects and the baby to the police for further investigation and prosecution. The police spokesperson in Imo state confirmed the incident and said that the case would be charged to court soon. He also warned members of the public to desist from such heinous acts and report any suspicious activities to the police.
