Nigerian Army Colonel Demands Investigation After N270m Payment From CBN

A senior officer of the Nigerian Army has received over N270 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to a memo exclusively obtained by PRISTINEGIST.

Colonel MS (surname and service number withheld) addressed the memo to the Commandant of the Army War College in Abuja. He’s requesting an investigation into the payment of such a large sum.

The Colonel’s bank account was credited with N270,000,000 paid through the CBN Alert System on April 3.

He pointed out that such wasn’t in tandem with his emolument and not entitled to such payment from the CBN.

The Colonel called for an investigation into the motive behind the payment and requested that the payment be reversed.

He expressed concern about the current trend of financial fraud and sharp practices by various institutions, urging his superiors to formally reverse the payment due to the alarming rate of fraud perpetrated in some government institutions.

The War College officer praised the Colonel for displaying patriotism and honesty in reporting the issue.

He disclosed that the Commandant has already swung into action, and higher authorities had been informed for further action.

It is hoped that a thorough probe into the matter will reveal why the CBN erroneously transferred such a huge amount to a personal account.
