Team Kwara’s participation at the ongoing National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, Delta State, received a timely boost as Kwara-born football enthusiast and philanthropist, Alhaji Olatunji Mohammed, popularly known as El Lado, intervened to address a pressing need at the team’s camp.
In what many described as a lifesaving gesture, El Lado donated 100 bags of pure water to the contingent after reports of acute shortage within the camp.
The quick intervention ensured that athletes and officials had adequate supply of drinking water during the intense activities of the competition.
Speaking after the donation, members of the Kwara delegation expressed appreciation to El Lado for his consistent support over the years, noting that this was not the first time he had come through for sports development in the state.
They commended his long-standing contributions to football and grassroots sports, stressing that his gesture reflects true patriotism and concern for young athletes.
El Lado, while assuring that he would continue to stand by Team Kwara, promised to extend more support before the conclusion of the Games. He recalled how sports had always played a key role in youth empowerment, urging other well-meaning Kwarans to also lend their support to the athletes representing the state.
Team Kwara is among the contingents competing in various sporting events at the 2025 National Youth Games, which has brought together athletes from across the federation to showcase talent and promote national unity.
