Over 100 Gay Suspects Nabbed By Police At A Gay Wedding In Delta State Hotel
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of over 100 suspects who were allegedly involved in a gay wedding ceremony at a hotel in the state. The police said they acted on a tip-off from some residents who reported the illegal gathering at the hotel.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the suspects were caught in the act of conducting a gay wedding ceremony, which is a violation of the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2013. He said the suspects were mostly young men and women who confessed to being homosexuals.
He said the police recovered some items from the suspects, including wedding rings, cakes, and invitation cards. Also, he added that the suspects would be charged in court after the investigation. He also warned members of the public to desist from engaging in any form of homosexuality, as it is a criminal offence in Nigeria.
The police spokesperson said the command would not tolerate any act of immorality or indecency in the state. He urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards and report any suspicious activities to the police. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in ensuring the security and peace of the state.
