PDP Stalwarts Defect to APC in Moro Local Government, Kwara State

Two prominent members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alhaji Suleiman Olokuku, a seasoned grassroots politician from Okutala, and Honourable Ibrahim Usman, a former Supervisory Counselor also hailing from Okutala, made their transition to the APC amid cheers and support from the Moro Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq Unity Forum (MAAUF) led by Chief Stephen Wole Oke.

The momentous occasion took place at Chief Wole Oke’s residence in Ilorin, where he warmly welcomed the new entrants, citing the progressive mindset of the people of Okutala as a driving force behind their decision.

Chief Oke emphasized the importance of unity, progress, and development in both Kwara State and Moro Local Government, urging the defectors to contribute their quota to the advancement of their community and the state at large.

Expressing their unwavering loyalty to the APC and its visionary leader, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, Alhaji Suleiman Olokuku and Honourable Ibrahim Usman hailed the party’s commitment to purpose-driven governance and development initiatives.

They commended MAAUF members for their selflessness and dedication to the unity and progress of Moro, Kwara State, and Nigeria.

The ceremony was marked by a symbolic group photograph, capturing the momentous occasion as Alhaji Suleiman Olokuku and Honourable Ibrahim Usman stood fourth and fifth from the right, signifying their new alliance with the APC.

This defection follows a recent trend of political realignments in the state, as evidenced by Mr. Iyiola Alabi Adetunji, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) House of Assembly candidate in the 2023 elections, who also crossed over to the APC in a similar ceremony just two weeks prior.

Reported by veteran journalist Hameed Adio, this development underscores the evolving political landscape in Kwara State and the growing momentum of the APC ahead of future electoral contests.
