Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan have set a new ticketing record in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), raking in ₦4.8 million from gate takings in their season opener — despite losing 0-1 at home to Bayelsa United.
The highly anticipated fixture took place on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba. While the Oluyole Warriors fell short on the pitch, their off-field success was unprecedented, as the ₦4.8 million revenue more than doubled their previous high of ₦2.2 million set last season.
Observers credit the landmark achievement to the reforms of the club chairman, Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami, and the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Bunmi Fadayomi, who have introduced tighter ticketing controls to block leakages and ensure transparency, thereby boosting revenue for the Oyo State Government.
