Road to Morocco 2025: AFCON Qualifiers Draw Announced

 

Johannesburg, South Africa – The road to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 is officially set to begin with the Qualifiers draw on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

The eagerly anticipated event will be held at the SuperSport studios in Johannesburg, South Africa, commencing at 14h30 local time (15h30 Cairo time, 12h30 GMT).

A total of 48 nations will vie for a coveted spot in the finals, including the four winners from the preliminary round: Chad, Eswatini, Liberia, and South Sudan.

These teams will be drawn into 12 groups, each comprising four teams. The top teams from each group will battle it out in a series of matches, aiming to secure their places in the prestigious tournament set to be held in Morocco in 2025.

Among the nations confirmed for the draw are some of Africa’s football powerhouses, including the reigning champions, Cote d’Ivoire.

They will be joined by formidable teams such as Algeria, Cameroon, and Egypt, as well as other strong contenders like Angola, Benin, and DR Congo. Lesser-known but equally determined teams such as Cape Verde, Comoros, and Equatorial Guinea will also be looking to make their mark on the tournament.
