Kwara State has once again demonstrated its growing reputation as a breeding ground for sporting talents as six young squash players from the state have been invited to the national camp and trials organized by the Nigeria Squash Federation ahead of the 2026 World Junior Squash Championship.
The national camp and selection trials are scheduled to hold from March 16 to 22, 2026, at the prestigious Ikoyi Club 1938, where some of the country’s most promising junior squash players will compete for places in the national team.
The World Junior Squash Championship 2026 is expected to take place in Canada in July 2026, bringing together the best young squash talents from across the world.

Their selection underscores Kwara State’s steady progress in grassroots sports development, particularly in squash, where young athletes from the state have continued to excel at national competitions.
Sports observers have also attributed this achievement to the increasing support for sports development by the Kwara State Government under the leadership of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose administration has prioritized youth engagement and talent discovery through sports.
Equally instrumental in the development is the Kwara State Sports Commission, led by its Executive Chairman Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, whose leadership has strengthened sports structures and provided opportunities for young athletes to compete and grow.
Stakeholders in the state have expressed confidence in the invited players, describing their selection as a testament to the dedication of coaches, administrators, and the athletes themselves who have worked tirelessly to raise the standard of squash in the state.
