Squash: Kwara Stars Dominate Semi-Finals at 3rd John Hett Sports Foundation/PSA Open 2025

Kwara State players have continued to shine brightly at the ongoing 3rd John Hett Sports Foundation (JHSF)/PSA National Squash Championship 2025, as the state secured an outstanding representation in both the male and female semi-final stages of the competition.
In a remarkable display of talent and determination, all four semi-finalists in the ladies’ category are from Kwara State, while Shuaib Giwa, one of the state’s top male players, also booked his place in the men’s semi-finals — highlighting Kwara’s growing dominance in national squash.
In the quarterfinals, Rofiat Abdulazeez, Faidat Soliu, Khadijat Abdulraheem, and Mosturai Durosinlorun all advanced after putting up impressive performances:
Rofiat Abdulazeez (KW) beat Titilayo Akinleye 2-0 (11/3, 11/1, 7/0 rtd), Faidat Soliu (KW) beat Awawu Balogun (LU/Og) 3-1 (4/11, 11/8, 11/9, 12/10), Khadijat Abdulraheem (KW) beat Delight Allison (JESC/Akw) 3-2 (11/8, 5/11, 7/11, 11/3, 11/6), and Mosturai Durosinlorun (KW) beat Jadesola Olatunji (La) 3-2 (11/7, 4/11, 11/6, 7/11, 11/9).
However, the ladies’ semi-finals will now be an all-Kwara showdown: Rofiat Abdulazeez (KW) vs Faidat Soliu (KW) – 3:00 p.m., and Khadijat Abdulraheem (KW) vs Mosturai Durosinlorun (KW) – 4:15 p.m.
In the men’s category, Kwara’s Shuaib Giwa will take on Gabriel Olufunmilayo (JHSF/NSCDC/Edo) at 3:30 p.m., while Faruq Sulaiman (Lagos) faces Abel Shedrack (JHSF/NPF/Edo) at 4:45 p.m.
With five Kwara players featuring in the semi-final stage, the state has once again proven its dominance and consistency in national squash competitions.
