Summer Edition: Governor AbdulRazaq’s Digital Literacy Initiative Makes Strong Start in Edu & Isin

The Kwara State Government has kicked off the Summer Holiday Edition of the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme with impressive momentum, equipping students with vital technology skills for the future.
The programme, initiated by the Office of the Special Assistant on Digital Innovation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, began on Monday, August 4, 2025, focusing on coding and innovation thinking. It aims to transform students from passive technology users into active creators.
In its opening week, participating schools delivered intensive training on the basics of web development and programming. Students combined theory with hands-on exercises, building simple web pages and learning core programming concepts to prepare them for advanced modules in the weeks ahead.
A high-powered delegation, including the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf-Adelodun; Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola; and Commissioner for Social Development, Hajiya Mariam Nnafatima Imam, PhD, visited centres in Edu and Isin Local Government Areas to monitor progress. The officials inspected ICT facilities, observed live coding sessions, and engaged directly with students and instructors.
The commissioners praised the enthusiasm of the learners and the commitment of the trainers, pledging continued government support to expand digital literacy across the state.
Special Assistant on Digital Innovation, Hon. Ishola Kayode, described the programme as a “strategic investment” in Kwara’s future.
“We’re not just teaching code; we’re unlocking creativity, boosting employability, and laying the foundation for a more inclusive and prosperous digital future for Kwara,” he said.
A joint monitoring team involving the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology, and senatorial supervisors also reported strong engagement levels and effective teaching methods.
Over the coming weeks, participants will advance to app development, explore cutting-edge digital tools, and sharpen their innovation skills — positioning Kwara youths for global opportunities in technology, entrepreneurship, and the digital economy.
