Three Oyo Monarchs Die In Auto Crash, Nine Others Injured
A fatal car crash claimed the lives of three traditional rulers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on Friday. The accident occurred on Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway when a private Benz E230 collided with a commercial Scania Truck. Two of the monarchs died on the spot, while the third one succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The deceased were identified as the Olodogbo of Odogbo, the Onibowula of Bowula and the Alayetoro of Ayetoro. They were on their way to a social event in a nearby community when the tragedy struck. Three other passengers who survived the crash are receiving treatment at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH).
The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Joshua Adekanye, confirmed the incident and said that the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the morgue of LAUTECH. He also said that the cause of the accident was under investigation.
In another incident on the same day, a truck caught fire on the same expressway, injuring nine out of the 13 occupants. Adekanye said that no one died in the fire, but the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. He urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules to avoid such mishaps.
