President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe as the Chairman of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), effective March 11, 2025. This appointment is for an initial term of four years.
Dr. Oloriegbe, a former Kwara Central Senator, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He holds a Master’s in Coaching and Consultation from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s of Medicine and Surgery from Ahmadu Bello University. He has also served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and the Joint National Assembly Committee on Health.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Dr. Oloriegbe’s appointment is a significant development in the healthcare sector. Onanuga stated, “This appointment is a testament to Dr. Oloriegbe’s expertise and commitment to healthcare development in Nigeria”.
