Triumph Over Tragedy: Teenage Victim Of Sex Trafficking To Ghana Gets Scholarship
In an inspiring turn of events, the Ugwumba Leadership Center has extended a lifeline of hope to Miss Divine Asuzu, a young girl who endured the horrors of human trafficking and was recently deported from Ghana.
Asuzu was among ten teenage girls, aged between 15 and 16, rescued by Nigerian and Ghanaian authorities from the clutches of sex traffickers. The minors were deceived with promises of a better life but found themselves trapped in a nightmare of exploitation.
The President of Ugwumba Leadership Center for Africa, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, announced the scholarship in Abuja, praising Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State for his prompt action in rescuing the girls. He also acknowledged the efforts of those in the diaspora who raised the alarm leading to their rescue.
In a statement that reflects compassion and support for the victims, Nwosu emphasized that judgment should be withheld and that love and assistance are needed to help them reclaim their dignity and place in society.
As part of its commitment to youth development in Africa, the Ugwumba Leadership Center has awarded Miss Asuzu a full scholarship to pursue her education at any government university in Nigeria. Additionally, she will receive a monthly upkeep allowance until her admission.
