The Kwara State chapter of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) on Monday paid a congratulatory courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, and other newly appointed and reappointed permanent members of the Commission.
The permanent members who were part of the reappointment and fresh appointment include Hon. Abubakar Dele Alhaji (Kwara Central), Hon. Yunusa Abdullahi Lade (Kwara North), and Mrs. Mojisola Yemisi Makanjuola (Kwara South), who joined the board for the first time.
Leading the YSFON delegation, the State Chairman, Prince Ademola Kiyesola, congratulated the appointees and commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his strategic investment in sports development, youth empowerment, and other critical sectors in the state.
As part of the visit, YSFON executives presented the bronze medals won by Team Kwara at the recently concluded 40th Anniversary Ramat Cup International Competition in Nasarawa State. The tournament, held annually in memory of the late Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, saw the Kwara team finish third, with striker Adetoye Tobi emerging as the top scorer with 12 goals.
In his response, Mallam Mogaji, who also serves as a patron of YSFON, expressed appreciation to the body for its tireless commitment to talent discovery and grassroots football development. He rewarded the medal-winning team with a ₦50,000 cash gift and promised a special package for Adetoye Tobi in recognition of his outstanding performance.
The Chairman also commended the technical crew for their discipline and dedication, describing them as worthy ambassadors of Kwara State.
The YSFON delegation included Vice Chairman Alhaji Gesinde Adedeji Fregene, Hajia Orisankoko, and State Secretary Mallam Abdulwahab Ayinde.
In his remarks, the Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Oladele Bako, praised the synergy between YSFON and the Commission, noting that their collaboration has significantly raised the standard of grassroots sports in the state. He expressed optimism that with continued partnership, Kwara would secure more national and international laurels.
Closing the visit, YSFON Vice Chairman, Alhaji Gesinde Adedeji Fregene, reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to grassroots sports development, pledging to work closely with the Commission and stakeholders to nurture the next generation of football stars from Kwara State.
