Teenager Stabs Another To Death In Adamawa

A 19-year-old boy, Zakariya Saad, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing 17-year-old Muhammed Yahaya to death in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Damdu Ward of the same local government area, where the victim was found lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound around his neck.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, said the suspect was arrested from his residence in Wuro Hausa area of Yola South on the same day.

He said the police received a report from residents of Damdu Ward that a young yet-to-be-identified person was seen lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound around his neck.

“Police operatives immediately went to the scene and took the injured boy to the hospital, where he was certified dead,” he said.

He added that the suspect confessed to the crime and said he had a misunderstanding with the deceased, who was his friend, over a girl.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, directs Deputy Commissioner of Police CID to take over investigation and ensure diligent prosecution,” he said.

He urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding, and assured them that justice would be done. He also appealed to parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards, and report any suspicious behaviour to the police.
