In a recent announcement from the family of beloved actor John Okafor, better known as Mr. Ibu, it was revealed that a critical measure was taken to save his life by amputating one of his legs.

News about the actor’s health struggles emerged in October, necessitating financial aid for his medical treatment.

The statement, posted on the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, provided insights into Mr. Ibu’s challenging journey, which included seven successful surgeries. Unfortunately, one of these surgeries involved the amputation of his leg to enhance his chances of survival.

The statement conveyed the family’s profound gratitude, stating, “Good afternoon, Nigerians. We want to express our immense appreciation to all those who have come forward to support our father. Our gratitude knows no bounds, and only divine gratitude can adequately convey our thanks for the assistance you’ve provided.”

It continued, “As of 1 pm today, Daddy has undergone seven successful surgeries. Regrettably, to sustain his life and improve his chances of recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated. This has been an incredibly challenging development for all of us, but we’ve had to embrace it as our father’s new reality in order to preserve his life.”

The family earnestly requested continued support from compassionate Nigerians, emphasizing that their father remains in a delicate state and needs all the help he can receive.

“Thank you, everyone. The Okafor family is deeply appreciative, and we hold your support in the highest regard. In time, once Daddy’s condition stabilizes, he will personally acknowledge each and every one who stood by him during this difficult period,” the statement concluded.
