Boko Haram’s Bloody Rampage: Pastor and 13 Others Slaughtered in Yobe State
A town in Yobe State, the home of the former police chief, Usman Baba Alkali, was raided by the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), in the early hours of Friday.
The terrorists stormed Kwari, a town in Geidam Local Government Area, and killed the pastor of the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN), Luka Levong, and 13 other villagers, including the church treasurer, Maina Abdullahi.
They also set fire to the church, several houses and cars, leaving behind a trail of destruction and terror.
An eyewitness told SaharaReporters that the attack, which occurred around 1 am, was not resisted by any security forces.
“14 people were killed in Geidam this morning, many houses and the church were burnt,” he said.
Another resident said that many people fled into the bushes as the gunmen shot indiscriminately.
“The victims were taken to the Specialist Hospital, Geidam,” he added.
Yobe State, which is located in Nigeria’s Northeastern region, has been plagued by frequent attacks from Boko Haram and its splinter groups, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives and the displacement of millions.
Since the death of Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, in May 2021, ISWAP has been expanding its influence and control in areas around Lake Chad, posing a serious threat to the security and stability of the region.
