The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Imo State came under heavy barrage by gunmen on Monday morning.
The shooters hauled tons of grenades through the commission’s fence, annihilating several offices and vehicles in the process.
However, the police stationed at the INEC office had a face off with the gunmen in a heavy shootout, leaving three of the gunmen dead.
INEC public relations officer, Dr. Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji confirmed the attack to the Nation.
As of the time of filing this report, investigations are ongoing to fish out those currently on the run.
