Ilorin, May 24, 2024 — Directors of Personnel Management (DPM) will oversee the administration of the 16 local government areas in Kwara State until the upcoming election in September.
This decision results in the dissolution of the Transition Implementation Committees (TICs) that were previously appointed to manage the councils.
The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) recently announced that the local government elections will be held on September 21, 2024. This announcement marks a significant shift in the administrative structure of the local councils as preparations for the elections commence.
Mrs. Modupe Iyabo Adekeye, Permanent Secretary of the Kwara State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, confirmed the new arrangement.
With the election date set, the focus now shifts to ensuring a smooth transition and effective governance in the interim period. The appointment of DPMs aims to provide stable and efficient administration until the new local government officials are elected.
This move is part of a broader effort to ensure transparency and effective governance in the lead-up to the elections, reflecting the state’s commitment to democratic processes and community development.
