The Kwara State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has embarked on the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Patigi Regatta Motel in Patigi town. This initiative marks a significant step in the state’s aggressive tourism drive.
The reconstruction project, which will span eight months, includes the development of shopping areas and an expansive parking space, as announced by the Honourable Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology (BIT), Damilola Yusuf. “We have already handed over the site to the contractor,” she added.
The revamped Patigi Regatta Motel will feature standard rooms, VIP suites, a conference hall, restaurants, and courtyards, among other amenities. Located along Kpada Road (Federal Road) and just 1500 meters from Kusogi Park in Patigi town, the motel is strategically positioned to attract tourists and visitors.
The government’s commitment to overhauling and remodeling the existing structures aims to expand the tourism potential of Kwara State. This project is expected to generate jobs and boost the state’s revenue generation efforts. The Honourable Commissioner emphasized that the facility would be particularly valuable once the Annual Patigi Regatta and fishing festival is revived, enhancing recreational opportunities in the area.
This initiative underscores the Kwara State Government’s dedication to revitalizing local tourism and promoting economic growth through strategic infrastructure development.
