“I’ll Sue You!”: Law Maker Fumes At Critic For Exposing Allowance And Salary
A Kogi state lawmaker, Elder Leke Joseph Abejide, has vowed to take legal action against UK-based Nigerian, Adeola Fayehun, for allegedly spreading false information about lawmakers’ salaries and allowances on social media.
Abejide claimed that Fayehun falsely stated that lawmakers receive hefty allowances, including N2.5 million basic salary, N7.5 million furniture allowance, and others. He expressed concern that these allegations have spread to his constituency and breached his privilege as a lawmaker.
“I’ll take it up with her,” Abejide declared, “We are not hiding anything in these hallowed chambers.” He challenged the accuracy of Fayehun’s claims, stating that some members struggle to survive on their salaries, which are often depleted by constituent requests.
