Today, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening public education, citing ongoing investments in school infrastructure and digital learning.
The Governor stated this during an inspection of a multistorey prototype primary school in Adeta, Ilorin, over the weekend, describing the initiative as part of a broader effort to enhance public school infrastructure and improve teaching quality across the state.
“We are going to focus heavily on education and healthcare this year. Those are the major challenges that we have to overcome,” AbdulRazaq said while speaking with reporters at the site. “With what we have in the KwaraLEARN programme, through which we put digital devices in every classroom, we are intentionally making efforts to bridge some gaps.”
He noted that the KwaraLEARN programme has led to a positive shift in public education, with increasing enrollment figures as more parents transfer their children from private institutions to government-owned schools.
“We have seen significant changes. As a result of the progress that we have made, many parents are taking their wards from private establishments to government schools because they have seen the change. This has led to an increase in enrollment and a reduction in out-of-school children,” he said.
Describing the newly inspected facility as a model for future school designs, the Governor emphasized that the administration is rethinking the structure and learning environment of public schools to align with modern educational demands.
“This is a prototype of KwaraLEARN School. This is called a prototype in the sense that we have to rethink how we design and build our schools and learning environment. It is the way we want to build our schools. This is just the beginning,” he stated.
AbdulRazaq added that the state government remains committed to strengthening the KwaraLEARN initiative to sustain the positive learning outcomes already recorded.
“Parents are taking advantage of KwaraLEARN to enroll their children in public schools. By and large, we have seen an upturn in enrollment in our schools, and the learning outcomes are exceedingly very good. We are glad that we went into the KwaraLEARN programme, and we are going to strengthen it,” he assured.
